Another lovely week in our Thursday Friday Tree frog room as we celebrated our Mums, Nana’s and special people in our lives with our Mother’s Day breakfast. It was so lovely to see such a great turn out!
This week the children have been enjoying learning about their bodies as well developing their independence in play as they role played teachers, retold and acted out the story of the 3 little pigs and explored some of the musical instruments within room.
Term 2 Week 2
What a full week we’ve had in the Thursday Friday Tree Frog room as the children enjoyed time threading, baking yummy cookies, painting and playing group table games.
We shared why we love our Mum’s and talked about the many special ways we can celebrate our Mums.
Mr Brad from Fitness Kidz returned for the year with the children practising their balancing, rolling, jumping and crawling skills through the obstacle course. We used hula hoops spinning them on the spot and played a catching game. Finally we finished with a fun music session with Rochelle from the Conservatorium of music.
Term 2 Week 1
What a great first week back at preschool the Thursday Friday Tree Frogs had as we shared our holiday adventures, created our very own chalk paint, practised our soccer skills and enjoyed playing in our outdoor cubbies. We even did an amazing job remembering our acknowledgment of country and caring for country as we cut up some fruit scraps for our worms in our worm farm. We look forward to lots more learning in Term 2!
Term 1
Term 1 Week 11
What a great last week of term we’ve had in the Thursday Friday Tree Frog room as the children enjoyed cutting up and trying some yummy crunchy veggies. We tallied up which veggie was the crunchiest and carrot came out on top! We also enjoyed lots of cooperative turn taking games, puzzles, making rainbow play dough and making wiggly worm paintings. Wishing everyone a restful holiday break and we look forward to seeing you all when we return for Term 2!
Term 1 Week 9
What a busy week it has been in the Thursday/Friday tree frog group, we continued to celebrate Veggie Month with some fun fruit and veggie prints and cooking some very yummy veggie muffins. We spent time learning about Harmony Day - a day that celebrates our diversity as a people in Australia by sharing in the story “Will you fill my bucket”. The children shared the many ways they fill the buckets of those around them through kindness, play and showing affection.
Term 1 Week 8
The Thursday/ Friday Tree Frog children have been exploring vegetable month this week by discussing what are favourite veggies are as well as gaining more knowledge through reading books and playing a game where we sort “sometimes” foods and “everyday foods” into groups as well as a sensory game where we had to guess the vegetable we could feel in the box without looking at it, this was a lot of fun.
We also extended our knowledge from last week on our interest in pets by having a whole group learning experience about dog safety and how to approach dogs when out and about in the community.
Next week we will cook some vegetable fritters or vegetable muffins to broaden the children’s exposure to new and also familiar vegetables.
We have enjoyed a variety of play experiences outdoors this week, taking full advantage of the sunny weather that we have been missing recently.
Term 1 Week 7
This week in the Thursday/Friday tree frog room there has been a lot of conversation about our pets.
Do you have any pets ?
What kind of pets do you have at your house? and most importantly how do we care for our pets?
The children shared their understandings and ideas through enthusiastic group conversations, information books and creative drawings in our floor book.
Other interests included experimenting with colour in the art corner by making “magic play dough” and also constructing an amazing fort and cubby which showed patience, teamwork and negotiation skills.
Term 1 Week 5
This week the Thursday Friday Tree Frog’s have been learning all about rubbish. We talked about the different bins we use at preschool and at home, discussing where our rubbish goes and what coloured bins each different waste goes into. We had fun listening to the story of the Gingerbread Man and spent time making and eating some yummy gingerbread of our own. There was shop play, painting and play dough and we ended our week outside finding lots of wiggly worms in the yard and digging in the sandpit.
Term 1 Week 4
The tree frog Th/Fr group have been continuing to get to know one another and build a sense of belonging at preschool.
This week we enjoyed the gorgeous sunny weather and spent lots of time engaged in play outdoors.
Water play and the creek area are spaces that we see the children thoroughly enjoying spending their time in and this has allowed the children to build social skills and learn about turn taking and negotiating within play.
This week we explored “Healthy Lunchboxes” and had a group discussions about our favourite healthy foods and foods we enjoy eating sometimes.
We have also been discussing our classroom “Code of Conduct”. This is something we do with each group at the start of the year to empower the children to make some rules to keep us all safe and happy within both the indoor and outdoor learning environments. It’s also a great opportunity to discuss how we look after our precious resources at preschool.
Term 1 Week 3
Tree Frog Thursday/Friday group have been making the most of the gorgeous weather this week. The creek has been a popular spot to play and cool off, the new deck was a lovely quiet spot for looking at books with friends, and a picnic morning tea was enjoyed by all.
